Are the hospitals of international standard? If the hospital has an international accreditation such as the American JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation then that means that they follow procedures which are in line with the highest standards in the US and Europe. Check also what other patients have said about this hospitals in blogs or testimonials

Doctors
Where has the doctor been trained? Where has the doctor worked? Consider it a plus if the doctor has had international experience, especially in Western countries. If the doctor publishes any scientific papers then that’s a sign that he is specialized in that field. Look also for regular international training and post-graduate courses. And of course go with your gut feel; always have a first consultation with the doctor to let you explain the entire procedure and remember that you can cancel the treatment at any moment.

Country and city of treatment
Is it a country which is used to welcoming foreigners? Some countries might have excellent facilities but are not catered for foreigners. What are the costs for accommodation and food? Even if you are electing a treatment in which you are an inpatient you might stay in that city for a couple of extra days to recover. Then the question is what will the extra days cost you? Do you select a big city for the treatment? The bigger the city the more choice you will have in terms of hospitals.

Apart from the treatment, is there any other point of interest? You might consider staying in the country for an extra couple of days holidays. Also consider the flight connections, safety of the country and overall infrastructure.
